Mikhael Kevario, or simply Iyo or ‘Pak Rio’ to his students, was born in Manado on January 16, 1992. Growing up in a vibrant Christian family, he attended a private Christian school in Manado, where he developed his love for music. He learned to play the guitar from his uncle and spent countless evenings jamming with friends in a small studio. Music became both his escape and his passion.
After finishing his studies, he packed up and moved to Bandung, a city he calls the perfect mix of art and opportunity.
Now settled in Bandung, Kevario teaches at the Faculty of Arts and Design at Institut Seni Budaya Indonesia (ISBI) Bandung. He specializes in music and also mentors student bands. His teaching style? A unique mix of discipline and fun. He’s known for being strict students who show up late or slack off get a firm scolding. But he’s also the most entertaining lecturer on campus, often cracking jokes and organizing impromptu jam sessions during class.
Outside the classroom, Kevario stays true to his roots. He’s the front-man and guitarist of a band he formed with his old friends who share his passion for music. They regularly perform at campus events, local cafes, and festivals.
